Planning Application for a Solar Array & Battery Energy Storage System:
On Friday 20th July a planning application was published for a solar array and battery energy storage system on land in Letheringham and Easton, following on from the EIA screening opinion application in February 2025. The link below will take you to the Simple Search page on the East Suffolk Council website. If you type Letheringham in the search box, the first application that appears in the results will be this one - DC/25/2733/FUL. Click on that and you will be able to view the application.
There is an official 21-day consultation period and parish councillors are aiming to submit an initial response informed by the views of electors in Letheringham as soon as possible.
There will be a Parish Meeting on Monday August 4th at 7 pm in Easton and Letheringham Village Hall to discuss the proposals. We hope as many of you as possible will come to share your views whether they be to support or object so that parish councillors can hear from you. A parish meeting puts everyone on the Letheringham electoral roll on an equal footing to have their say and discuss an issue. It is chaired by the chair of the parish council and has fewer of the constraints of a parish council meeting. It is open to any member of the public but speaking priority will be given to Letheringham electors. The purpose of the meeting is to ensure that parish councillors have a clear understanding of your views on this application.
There will be an extraordinary meeting of Letheringham Parish Council a week later on Monday August 11th at 7 pm in Easton and Letheringham Village Hall. Councillors will discuss the application and decide on how the parish council should respond to the application as a statutory consultee in the planning process.
Official notifications and agendas will follow for both meetings.
It will be very helpful to have a good turnout to the parish meeting so that the views of as many people as possible can be heard. You can also email this address with your views so that we know how the people we represent feel.
It is of course important to make your views known directly to East Suffolk Council. If you need help or guidance on how to do this, please contact us via this website or send us an email: letheringhamparishcouncil@gmail.com.
